Hey there fellow Singaporean! Regarding the question you asked me on my dA page, I use my Fujifilm PnS (Point & Shoot), but when I started using my Photography club's Canon \ Nikon DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex), the difference in the quality of the photos is somewhat apparent. But you have to spend inexorbitant amounts of money on one - up to a few thousand dollars each time!
Actually it's not the camera that matters... It's the photographer. A lousy photographer + the world's best camera may not give you good photos, but a decent photographer + a lousy PnS might even be better! Ultimately, it depends on your creativity and how to search for the meaning behind your photos.
